Bruno Mars, the beloved pop sensation, is making waves with the exciting announcement of his first major headlining tour in nearly ten years, and Colorado Springs is lucky enough to be a stop on this highly anticipated journey!
Scheduled for September 26, Mars will grace the stage at Falcon Stadium, located at the U.S. Air Force Academy, marking what promises to be one of the biggest concerts ever held at this unique venue. This performance is part of a comprehensive worldwide stadium tour that was unveiled just this week.
In a statement from Air Force Academy Athletics, officials shared that landing an artist of Mars' caliber has been a long-term goal that took years of effort and planning, particularly following significant renovations to Falcon Stadium aimed at enhancing its appeal for large events.
"For quite some time, we've aspired to host more major events at Falcon Stadium," explained Nick Kiger, the chief program officer for Air Force Athletics. "With our recent stadium upgrades, we’ve been eager to bring back high-profile events, including concerts."
The latest renovations, which were finalized last year, concentrated primarily on the east side of the stadium. "We completed extensive renovations last year, introducing a brand new east club, premium seating options, rooftop decks, as well as updated concessions and restrooms," Kiger added.
Kiger also highlighted a crucial yet often overlooked upgrade: the redesign of the stadium's tunnel, allowing for semi-trucks to access the performance area. "This strategic move was made with the hope of welcoming events like this concert to Falcon Stadium," he noted.
With a capacity of just over 39,000, Falcon Stadium will feature a modified seating arrangement for the concert, removing some seats for the stage setup while adding floor seating to enhance the audience experience.
While ticket prices are still being determined, organizers assure fans that various ticket options will be available. "This event is open to the public," Kiger emphasized, dispelling any misconceptions about the Academy's accessibility. "We’re thrilled to welcome everyone to this extraordinary event."
Notably, proceeds from the concert will directly benefit the academy. "Every dollar raised will support our cadet athletes and programs across the academy," Kiger stated. "All funds generated go right back into supporting our initiatives."
For residents of Colorado Springs, this concert represents a rare chance to see a major international star without the need to travel to Denver. "Typically, to catch big-name shows, you’d need to head to Denver," Kiger remarked. "We feel incredibly fortunate to have such a monumental artist and event coming to our community."
Officials at the Academy are also mindful of potential traffic issues that usually accompany large events and are advising concertgoers to consider carpooling, arriving early, and planning their visit ahead of time.
Presale tickets will become available on Wednesday, January 14, starting at 12 p.m. local time. Fans interested in securing presale access must register at BrunoMars.com by Monday, January 12, at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. Remaining tickets will go on sale to the general public beginning Thursday, January 15, at noon local time.
